Golf shop: no clothing available Other amenities: putting green, small driving range, banquet facilities Other comments: After a 6 month closure for upgrades, this course opened on April 7, 2007. The fairways and greens have improved and offers Bay Area golfers a nice course to play at lower than average rates. Beginners will get good practice on the 9 hole course and advanced beginners and up will get a challenge on the big course. The main feature is the 18th hole, a rare par 6 where golfers have a steep downhill, then a steep uphill to the green. For the beginning golfer: This course is a challenge for the intermediate to advanced player. For the beginner, it's a course that you can use to practice all different types of lies, when you are ready for the challenge. And the price is a bargain for twilight rates. If you get a flat lie, that will be rare on this course, where up and down hills are the norm. But again, for the price, the course is worth testing your golfing skills without breaking your pocketbook.

The Gourmet Golfer says: "A neighborhood restaurant serving a selection of curried, stir fried, and deep fried meats, seafood, and noodles. My favorite dish is the eggplant grilled with shrimp and ground pork that tastes smoky---a must!! Each of their 4 soups have unique flavors, I like them all. The char kathiw is a plate of pan fried noodles with chili sauce, bean sprouts, eggs, ground roasted peanuts and your choice of chicken or prawns."
Vietnamese Le Cheval 1007 Clay St. Oakland, CA 94607 (510) 763-8957 www.lecheval.com The Gourmet Golfer says: "This family-run restaurant has been an Oakland staple for years. Be prepared for long lines Friday and Saturday nights. Service is good and portions are large. My favorites include the Watercress salad with pan fried prawns, chicken, beef, and onions resting atop a bed of watercress; the Lemongrass Calamari stir fried with a touch of curry; their tender Cube Beef Steak; and Orange-Flavored Chicken with pieces of orange peel, green pepper, and onions stir fried with chicken breast. For you beef lovers, Le Cheval's 7 Courses of Beef is highly rated, but I have not sampled this yet."
Chinese Full Moon Seafood Restaurant 2042 MacArthur Blvd. Oakland, CA 94602 (510) 530-1838 The Gourment Golfer says: "A typical neighborhood Chinese restaurant with no ambience. Some dishes hit the mark and others don't. Stick with their salt & pepper Dungeness crab (seasonal) sauteed with bits of jalapeno and shallots; their Peking spareribs which are pork chops in a thick red sauce; sauteed egglant with spicy pork; and their Hong Kong style noodle dishes."
